In the world today it is becoming harder and harder for cultures not to blend together. America is the melting pot and it is evident through the different types of culture that has been brought over through the years. It can be just about anything from food to books to music. A very specific example of something brought to America is Harry Potter. Harry Potter was first published in 1997 over in Great Britain. A year later it was published with a different title over here in America. Harry Potter became a huge success. In some ways I feel like kids now do not know that Harry Potter was not originally from America, yes we made the movies but that’s only after they became a huge hit over in Great Britain and then came here.
An example of how some of American culture has gone over sees is with Apple. Apple is not really a culture exactly but in a way it is. It has shaped how we listen to music and use our phones and even how we get our music. In America, all the tech savvy people want Apple products but that has spread over seas as well. IPhones are everywhere along with MacBook’s and iPads. Apple is an American company that has taken their products that help shape our lives and shared them with the rest of the world.
Cultures sharing will continue to spread throughout the world because as long as people keep traveling and learning about other cultures it will be impossible to slow it down. America does need to preserve its culture because if we do not we will lose our identity and the parts of our culture that makes us special.
